Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. It encourages and develops concentration, clarity, emotional positivity and a calm seeing of the true nature of things. You can learn the patterns and habits of your mind, and meditation practice offers a way to cultivate new, more positive ways of being.
How to do it?
Set up a session with me to learn how easy it is to start meditating! If you want to give it a try on your own, here’s some tips:
Set up your meditation posture in a way that is relaxed, but upright. Usually sitting on a cushion with crossed legs. If that’s not comfortable, kneel or sit in a chair. Then, close your eyes, relax and tune into how you are feeling. Take some time here. Slow down.
- Establish a daily practice – try for 15 minutes, but 5 or 10 will work to start.
- Try to begin your day with meditation, but any time of the day will work.
- Give and receive energy – have awareness of this. Keep your palms up and open.
- Use candles or music to help establish your attention.
- Try counting the length of your inhale, then the length of your exhale. This will help to slow down the mind.
- Surrender your thoughts. Just let them go. Another will come in right behind it, just continue to let them go. Imagine your thoughts as clouds in the sky – just watch them float by.
- Take it easy, just let it happen 🙂
