My Re-do it yourself Laundry Room

Here is an almost before picture of my laundry room.  There was a shelf covered with laundry supplies and pretty much a lot of junk that accumulates in a laundry room.  IMG_2429 IMG_2431

I repaired the wall where the shelf was (with my best friend spackle) and then painted all the walls.  I used Benjamin Moore Seahorse.

When I realized that putting up cabinets from Lowes or Home Depot would run about $900+ (for all the cabinets I wanted), I decided I would try something new (for me):  I went on Craig’s List!    I always read about people finding this great stuff on Craig’s List, so now I had the opportunity to see what all the hype was!  Well the first few times I only came across dealers who were selling new cabinets, then I found a guy about 2 hours from me that had these old beat up cabinets that definitely could have been redone and made beautiful, but he was asking $150 per cabinet (there were 3), so I still thought pretty pricey.  I gave it a few more days and went back on and found a woman who was redoing her kitchen and wanted $400 for all the cabinets.  I asked her for only the upper cabinets and we settled on $200 for all 4 upper cabinets!

IMG_2447 IMG_2448 IMG_2450Since these were kitchen cabinets, you really need to clean them before painting (lots of grease in the wood) so I found this GREAT PRODUCT called Krud Kutter and it made the wood like new :)!!IMG_2449Using my favorite paint for furniture, Annie Sloan’s Chalk Paint, I painted all the cabinets Old White and finished them with clear wax.  After about a day or two, they paint and wax was pretty set and with a little help from my husband and his stud finder and level, we installed the new cabinets!
